well what a splendid time, i've done some work on my own stuff, some proper concept work for others and had the joy of both MOT and Tax on my car, so so good and not so good things.

the answer is very. i've not put anything here for ages.
have an image i saw at the british museum the other day ![]() it was a woodblock print in the japanese section, i snapped with with my phone and then recreated it in photoshop and played with it a bit. i saw the terracotta army exhibition at the british museum, it was a roundabout thing of booking tickets about a month ago, we had a 6.40 pm slot as that was the only one we could get, tickets were like gold dust but it was a good exhibition and i'm glad i went. it runs until the 6th of april, so if you do get a chance to go it's nice to see them up close and it's really the only chance you'll get unless you visit china. well after a splendid weekend in Devon, fine food, wine and access to a sauna and steam room i feel refreshed and relaxed, having a 4 day week also helps.
![]() have a Brian Blessed related picture i did for b3ta.com. my new Japanese sword is in the post and should be with me on Tuesday, which is nice, and just ahead of the proposed ban on Japanese style swords. the government haven't ironed out the details yet but it's meant to come into force in April, it has a knock on affect on martial artists like me as i imagine the mental and feral members of our society aren't really going to take much notice of the ban and it'll just send the sale and movement of rubbish badly made swords underground. so the price of trash ebay imports will go up and ner'do well will still get access to them and be able to run into the streets. failing that they will probably just pick up a kitchen knife and use that. also having not decided on a structure for the ban the government are really on shaky ground. will the ban mean anything made in a Japanese style or just imitation swords, and does it mean that a Japanese style knife can be owned/made/purchased if it is made in a certain way, or if it costs a certain amount. it really need clarification and soon if they are going to pass it as law. it'll affect a large amount of retailers of these products and mentalists will just purchase a medieval or roman style imitation sword with which to get drunk and go on a rampage with. sorry for the rant. well, what a busy week, work as picked up, good news from people who are undergoing treatment for a serious illness and i've been getting about 4 hours sleep all week.
but all the hard work as paid off as my nice shiny new CV was sent off today, i had a quick reply and then a phone call and i've sorted out an interview for Monday afternoon. it's in Cornwall, which is a bit of a drive from Gloucestershire, but thankfully due to being in Devon for my birthday on Sunday it's only a short trip across the border, so it seems all my long nights were worth it. Its quite an exciting time as if it works out it could mean a major move for for us all. I'll keep you posted as to what happens, as for now it's Friday tomorrow and then i'm off to a lully country hotel for my birthday (and also my mother in laws, which is on the same day) so i may have a few drinks over the weekend. hic! Yes, i know i've not done nowt to this for the best part of 6 months, but i've stuck it on the laptop now so i could update this from the toilet if need be.
Anyway, i thought i'd try again to put down my chain of thought. Spoke with The Great Architect earlier today, he's pushing forward with his invoice to IPC magazines for unauthorized use of his image, he's already had successful payment from news international who seem to be very above board about it and pay without fuss. but only after they had been caught. the next thing is to get them to be proactive in finding the originators of the work before they publish. Anyway, a link to the Great Architects blog is up their in the right hand corner, so go and read it in full. As for this blog i expect a bit will be about inane TV that i am forced to watch, like soap operas, for the love of my i can't find them enjoyable. Coronation street is full of northern types. Eastenders makes me depressed until the point of being so demotivated i just want die. i don't recognize any of the other shows and i've not watched hollyoaks since i was at uni and it was used as part of a slow sunday morning hangover cure. i'll also try and put other stuff on it so that it doesn't become just about rubbish TV. oh, and 'Life in cold Blood' last night was ace. Finished the Dustjacket for the fictional book suggested to me by bilbobarneybobs, needs a couple of tweaks, but is mainly there, i shall twiddle with it this evening and sort out a couple of spelling mistakes and layout corrections. Click on this thumbnail to see a larger version of the image, apologoes for a few spelling mistakes, i'll sort these out later. I'll be updating my Folio and CV this weekend, as well as hopefully getting a car, i'm getting fed up with taking the bus, especially this morning as it was pelting down with rain. I've got to make a start on setting up Mrs Thor's website this weekend as well. Wednesday, July 18

well, i started this and never bothered to keep it up, so i must start anew. i have decided that being in this job now affords me no more creative outlets, which is a shame because it once did and i once enjoyed getting into work early and leaving late, but not any more. I have found my portfolio to be either lacking or some stuff out dated, so it's time to set it straight and get it a little more varied and along the way brush up my skills in the software department. The First project has been suggested by a friend in t'north, bilbobarneybobs, you can find his blogsite buy clicking his name. So i shall be designing a dust jacket for a ficticious book call 'God Waiting Room' by the equally non-existant 'Ronald Mannheim'. I shall update you with the artwork in a day or two, it shall be a combination of photoshop and indesign. Wednesday, February 28

Hazzar! it seems to be working, the end of Febuary and what a month it has been, there have been up and downs, the downs are usually confined to 9-5 the ups are usually at the times inbetween. I've grown another year older this month and at points i've felt it mentally. Finally some good news today, i've been asked to an interview, at long last, so we'll have to see how it pans out. |
